Shopping for maternity clothes
Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t look stylish. It also doesn’t mean that you have to break the bank and buy a whole new wardrobe for your growing belly! Below are some tips to keep you looking current throughout your pregnancy.
When you are newly pregnant and are in that in-between stage when your normal clothes are too tight but you are not yet showing, what do you do? Don’t freak out and start ordering a bunch of maternity clothes because when they arrive they will be too big and you will be frustrated even more. Get out a hair tie or a rubber band and loop them through the buttonhole on your pants to add a couple of inches. Also, leggings are a pretty universal piece that you can dress up or down.
Depending on the time of year, we all have sweaters or tops in our closets that are on the bigger side to hide the belly bulge. Once, you can’t get away with the hair tie or rubber band trick and need to move on to maternity clothing, try purchasing basic pieces that you can mix and match from Old Navy, ASOS, or H&M. Staying neutral with your pieces will help keep the cost down and allow you interchange your looks. Using Pinterest to search for maternity looks was always very helpful for me so I could buy those staple clothing items and add accessories to give my outfit flair. If you want a more dressed-up look for an occasion, head out to the mall and hit your favorite store, if you are looking for a dress, you can typically buy a “non-maternity” dress just in a larger size.
My best advice is, don’t get too caught up in purchasing an entirely new wardrobe. Try and think of simple- neutral pieces that you can easily mix and match. After all, this is a short time you will be wearing these clothes and you will want and need to sink your hard-earned dollars into your baby! Keep in mind though, that you don’t have to lose all style with your growing belly, use accessories and try things you have to spice your outfit up!
