What to pack in your diaper bag
Thinking about packing a diaper bag can be daunting as you venture out of the house. It doesn’t have to be as it’s convenience, freedom, and peace of mind all rolled into one. Having your diaper bag stocked at all times means you won’t have to worry if you have everything you need for a stress-free outing with your baby.
Figuring out exactly what you’ll need to pack can be a challenge, especially if you’re a first-time parent. Let us help you with the essential things you should pack to successfully hit the road with your baby.
When you are deciding what to pack in your bag, think of possible scenarios you’ll encounter. The exact items in your bag will depend on the baby’s age and your preferences; however, you can use this checklist as a general guide to packing your diaper bag:
- Diapers, wipes, and diaper rash cream
- Changing pad
- Bags for dirty diapers
- A spare onesie or set of clothes
- Blanket swaddle and/or burp cloth
- A spare teether or pacifier (toys)
- Extra toys for baby
- Snacks for baby and yourself
- Anything you need to breastfeed or pump in public- nursing cover and a couple of extra breast pads or bottles and formula
- Parent personal items (Your phone, wallet, keys, and hand sanitizer) Also, maybe toss in an extra shirt for yourself in case of any breast leakage
- Keep in mind the time of year you are going out as your essentials list may change a bit. (Hats, mittens, sunscreen, etc)
Try not to stress out and over-pack, keep it simple and just think of your essentials. Baby, Toddler, or school-age kids in-toe, stores are usually around the corner so you can easily pop in to pick up any items you may have forgotten!
