Newborn sessions with siblings sometimes can be a little crazy! But I must say, I absolutely adore capturing all the energy behind these new moments of them together. The bond between siblings is one of the deepest and most meaningful relationships we will have in our lives. Friends can come and go but it’s the constant of knowing you can always rely on your brother or sister that is so special.
When it comes to newborn portrait sessions with siblings, I put a lot of thought into helping cultivate the new relationship they are beginning together. By making the older child feel noticed and special just as much as the newborn, we like to engage with them in playful games, learn about their favorite toy or color and ask questions on how they will teach their brother or sister big kid things. Posing them in the most comfortable way for their age will naturally create those sweet sibling moments we are after. It always warms my heart when I see the older sibling singing or sneaking a kiss on the new baby. It’s those special moments that I am so excited to capture- for all to look back on!
When my daughter Emmy was born, introducing her to our son was exciting and nerve-wracking all at the same time. It was a new chapter about to be written in our family’s story. The bond between the two of them is one that will never be broken, and I am so lucky to have been able to capture the start of their story in the many photos I have from her newborn session.
