Some of my favorite photo sessions are cake smashes! I love witnessing with parents their sweet baby trying cake for the first time! It’s so exciting! We never know how babies will react and it’s just the best capturing their expressions! Your baby grows and changes so quickly within the first year, you definitely don’t want to miss this chance to see their personalities really shine.
I first start out with traditional photos. I have a closet full of adorable outfits that will compliment how much they have changed from birth to one year. I believe in capturing the perfect portraits before the mess, I mean fun comes! Baby is typically a little wary at first, but once they get a taste of that icing, let the laughter begin. It doesn’t matter how many cake smashes I do, they always crack me up! There is also nothing cuter than watching a baby dive right in grabbing giant fist fulls and shoving it into their mouths!
As with all of my sessions, I will send you a questionnaire prior to asking about the colors and clothing options you prefer. I recommend sticking to a plain white cake and white icing as the colors. We don’t want the baby to have a red or blue mouth for a week! I include a balloon garland and any greenery or flowers to accent the cake and backdrop. You are welcome to bring in a special topper that coincides baby’s room or even from your shower from a year ago. I like to keep décor simple as I want your baby to shine!! Don’t let the chaos of their first birthday party overshadow the growth of the baby’s first year, let’s capture this precious milestone moment together!
