Your sweet baby has finally arrived and breastfeeding is working out perfectly but why is the baby so cranky? Guess what?? It could be what you are eating. It turns out that there are some foods that you are eating that could be the culprit! A good rule to follow is gassy mommy equals gassy baby.
Below is a list of the top five food to be aware of:
- Dairy
- Vegetables
- Fibers
- Spicy or Garlic Seasoned Foods
- Carbonated Beverages
Now I am definitely not saying to eliminate these foods just to be cautious or consume in moderation and keep an eye out for patterns when the baby is gassy. A couple of tricks you can do to relieve a baby’s gassiness are bicycling their legs and tummy time. Also, make sure the baby has a good latch and thoroughly burp your baby during and after feeding them. By the time baby is about 13 weeks old their digestion system will be more mature and the gassiness should decrease. Remember that not all babies are the same and listen to that mom’s gut feeling!
